The
SwáSthya
Yôga
Yôga is a Sanskrit word that means Union, and it is defined as any practical methodology that leads to samádhi - a state of hyperawareness. It is estimated that it first appeared over 5000 years ago in India, in the Dravidic Civilization from the Indus Valley.
SwáSthya Yôga is the systematization of the most ancient yôga, that lies in the roots of the trunk of Pre-Classic Yôga, the most authentic and primitive yôga. It was systematized by professor DeRose 60 years ago.
It consists in a complete class divided in 8 parts, with a moment of internal stillness, energy retribution, vocalizations of sounds and ultrasounds, breath work, internal cleansing techniques, body techniques, relaxation, visualization techinques, mindfulness and meditation.
It is a practical philosophy, allied to the theoretical philosophy of Sámkhya and the behavioral philosophy of Tantra.
A naturalist approach…
Sámkhya is the theoretical foundation of SwáSthya.
In short, this philosophy is men’s attempt to understand it’s existence through natural laws and in the dissociation between what’s changeable and what remains unalterable in every being and behind every process of Nature.
In Sámkhya, there are six main levels and plans of evolution, each one manifesting through its own state of conscience. In my classes, this translates to a natural, organic, non-mystical approach to every technique and its impact on your body and your own experience, as you get to go through those levels, expanding your conscience.
… through pleasure and non-repression.
Tantra is the behavioral structure of the SwáSthya.
Through the years this word has become highly distorted from it’s original meaning. Tantra - or Shakta - is a matriarchal, sensory and non-repressive philosophy. In this approach, our body is the most valuable tool for our evolution, and as such it should be treated with care and respect, and be explored in its resources and potentialities.
In a practical way, it’s a philosophy that invites you to navigate through each yôga practice - and life - with pleasure, through the exploration and expansion of your senses, looking at every challenge and situations as a tool for self-knowledge and evolution. Always with lightness, always exploring and expanding the energy within you.
The tools.
Throughout the whole yôga practice, every technique enhances a state of mindfulness, concentration and self-awareness. With that in mind, our practical classes are constituted by a collection of:
Breathing techniques, which consists in a respiratory reeducation to optimize and intensify our energy for the techniques that follow it.
Internal cleansing techniques, that internally clean, strengthen and stimulate our organism.
Organic techniques, that provides us more strength, flexibility, balance and energy.
Relaxation and visualization techniques, that allow the body to assimilate all the practice and to reinforce a positive emotional mindset.
Concentration and meditation techniques, whose goal is to reeducate the mind to focus on a single object, so the mental dispersion cease and gives space to a state of linear intuition and an expansion of your conscience.
The goal.
The main goal of yôga is to lead to Samádhi, a state of hyper-awareness, that provides a total self-knowledge and of the Universe.
The journey of self-knowledge takes us through a subtle, but powerful, revolution. As we learn to observe ourselves and listen to our inner guiding system, paradigms shift, beliefs are broken and, the truth as we know slowly gives space to a new reality, aligned with our own truth and our deeper selves.
Our classes lead us through this progressive evolution through pleasure, satisfaction, comfort and joy.
Yôga makes subtle your inner structures as meditation allows you to access your intuition, accelerates your evolution and connects you to a higher sense of individuality and unity.
The impact.
Yôga is a practical philosophy. Not a therapy. Not a sport. Not something you do to calm down or be more balanced or just for people who are already very flexible and strong. However, a regular, constant and disciplined practice provides you all of that, and much more.
The concentration, mindfulness and self-awareness that you train through each class, naturally reeducates your mind to keep those states through the rest of your day, making you more productive, more self-aware and focused.
By reeducating your breath, your ability to manage your emotions and moments of high stress will grow exponentially, as well as gain much more energy and vitality for your daily life.
By internally stimulating, strengthening and cleaning your body you are impregnating it with more health and vitality and boosting your immune system.
With the body techniques, the way you empower your mind and emotions to conquer strength, flexibility and balance is a doorway to use that same power every time you need to find that strength, flexibility and balance within yourself in every other aspect of your life.
By learning how to relax, you are allowing your brain to enter in a “reset” mood, by reprogramming your mind and emotions into a positive mindset, aligned with your values, your purpose and goals.
By meditating, you are training your mind to be more focused, in a state of total presence, that will have a huge impact on the quality of your life, giving you a sense of lightness and clarity of thoughts.
All of that, supported by the behavioral foundation of our classes, provides you a total shift and reinforcement of a paradigm that teaches us how to be more aware of our senses, our mind and emotions, to place pleasure and joy in the front line of your life, even in the most challenging situations, with freedom of thoughts and action. A freedom that, like all the fundamental things, always comes from the inside.
